The backup quarterback in Green Bay over the last two seasons is following Jamaal Williams to Detroit.

As indicated by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, former Packers quarterback Tim Boyle is marking with the Lions. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports the arrangement is for one year and worth $2.5 million, with a $1 million signing bonus.

Boyle joins Williams as Packers free agents signing with the Lions on Wednesday.

An undrafted free agent out of Connecticut, Boyle went through three years with the Packers, including two years as the essential reinforcement behind Aaron Rodgers. He beat down DeShone Kizer in 2019 and Jordan Love in 2020.

Boyle was a limited free agent yet didn’t get a delicate from the Packers, making him unhindered and allowed to sign with any group to begin the new league year.

In Detroit, Boyle will get an chance to be the essential backup behind Jared Goff, who was exchanged to the Lions in return for long-term starter Matthew Stafford in January.

Boyle played in 11 games for the Packers throughout the last two seasons, generally to bow down to end games. He finished three passes for 15 yards.

With a major arm, flashes of playmaking capacity from the pocket during the preseason, three years of working under Aaron Rodgers and two years of involvement with Matt LaFleur’s offense, Boyle has a charming range of abilities for a Lions group hoping to remake the quarterback position.

Love, the Packers’ first-round pick in 2020, will be the backup quarterback behind Rodgers in 2021. He was dormant as the No. 3 quarterback for every one of the 16 games last season.
